Jermain Defoe made a hat-trick on 4-0 England victory over Bulgaria for Euro 2012 qualifier. Although Rooney didn’t score a single goal, he managed a great assist and set up all four goals.

Defoe made his first goal in just 3 minutes, and the second one on the second half. Substitute Adam Johnson scord the third points in 83rd minute, and Defoe closed the match with the fourth goal.

After the match ended, Defoe  said, “I’m delighted with the performance tonight, not just the goals but the way we played and pressed in the first half.”

He also hailed his partnership with Rooney, “Obviously when you play with a partner it takes a bit of time to gel but Wazza (Rooney) is a great player and technically gifted. Like I’ve said before, if I make the runs he’ll find me and he did tonight.”

“When I got the second he said ’keep going and you’ll get the third’ and it’s always nice when you play with a partner and he wants you to get the hat-trick. It’s good.”

Besides Rooney, Defoe also praised England goal keeper Joe Hart,”Especially in the second half (he played well), there was a one-on-one and he made a great save. He’s been like that all season for his club,” the striker said. “What a prospect he is.”

Fabio Capello couldn’t hide his excitement with the perfect result, and said, “We were really focused on the game, I’m really happy.”

“Rooney and Defoe are fantastic players, four assists from Rooney and three goals from Defoe. They were really good in every moment during the game.

“I’m really happy with the performance of the two forwards – but also the other players.”

But after Defoe completed his hat-trick, he got substituted immediately for having a minor injury on his ankle. He was supposed to have an undergo groin surgery, but he put it on hold.
