Who could forget the 2006 incident in Gelsenkirchen. In World Cup 2006, Rooney’s action had made England team to leave the competition with a disappointing results.

At that time, Rooney made a tackle on Ricardo Carvalho that led to a red card. England finally lost, and afterwards , Rooney became the headlines of British newspaper, all blaming him for their loss.

But yesterday, he finally erased the incident, as he helped to score one goal in the 0-2 victory over the host, Schalke. Unlike before, now the British media praised him for his action.

“I’m happy with my performance and this victory,” said Rooney after the match.

Beside scoring a goal, Rooney also contribute an assist for Gigg’s goal. Therefore, he deserves to become man of the match.
