The Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney came off the bench to score a winning goal for the Red Devils in the Carling Cup final against Aston Villa at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United first found theirselves losing by a goal to nil after James Milner scored from the spot for Aston Villa in the 5th minute.
Michael Owen then equalized 7 minutes later for Manchester United, and that was a brilliant achievement for the English forward, who was substituted in the 42nd for Wayne Rooney.
It took nearly 30 minutes of the second half for Rooney to mark his presence in the game, when he astonishingly headed in the ball from a Valencia cross. 2-1 was the score line for the Mancunians at that moment, and with Aston Villa unable to reply with at least an equalizer, the game ended in favor of Manchester United.
Thanks to their prolific goal scorer Wayne Rooney, Manchester United were able to retain their English Carling Cup title for the first time. Manchester United now have the chance to finish their season with three cups in their hands, as their race in the Champions League and the Premier League continues.
