Manchester United stick close to ManCity in the league  standings after a 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane Stadium, last night. With 64 point, United is now 2 points away from ManCity.

Playing in away match, The Red Devils failed to show their domination and lost the ball possession percentage to the host Tottenham. However, Wayne Rooney’s goal at the end of the first half has helped the team to increase their confident as well as their performance in the second half .

According to the team’s official website, Rooney is still suffering with sore throat since last week in Amsterdam. Although the sore throat is getting worse, Rooney is hoping to be fit again this weekend to play against Norwich.

Right now, Rooney has been resting for a recovery and miss the training for Ajax match.

For information, last December Rooney missed Manchester United’s 2-3 defeat against Blackburn. The rumor spread that he was under punishment for going out late to dinner, which later denied by him and coach Ferguson.

But now Rooney opened up the fact, and admitted that he was out late with Darron Gibson and Johnny Evans, that led the sanction. He considered that the punishment is unnecessary, despite accept it in the end.

Besides the sanction, Rooney also got fined with 1 week salary of £200,000, which added to his disappointment.

“Yes (I’m angry), but for one reason I can not express it in public,” said Rooney.
