Wayne Rooney, AC MilanManchester United striker Wayne Rooney put on a spectacular performance against AC Milan yesterday evening in Manchester United’s second-leg encounter against David Beckham’s Milan in the Champions League.

Wayne Rooney scored two goals to extend his tally this season to 30 goals, and destroy a helpless AC Milan side which had already lost 3-2 at the San Siro two weeks ago following two goals from the sensational forward Rooney.

In some ways it was quite predictable that Rooney was going to emerge as the ‘Man of the Night’, taking into account the fact that he was given the chance to relax at the weekend when United played against Wolves.

This time around, being back for his club, Wazza was aware that a first goal for Milan would have been a real sign of danger for his side, and so he went straight for the opener.

It only took 13 minutes for Wayne Rooney to get the ball at the back of the net for the 2008 UEFA Champions League winners. A brilliant cross from Garry Neville was the perfect provider for a sweet header from the 24-year old English striker.

His second goal popped-out in the 46th minute when the score line changed to 2-0 in favor of the Old Trafford owners.

Ji-Sung Park then got a third for Manchester United 13 minutes later, before Darren Fletcher finished-off the visitors AC Milan with a fourth goal.

As the second half went by, David Beckham came from the bench to increase the mentality of the Italians, but his hot attempts on goal could not break down the Manchester United defence.

After the referee’s final whistle, the score line remained Manchester 4-0 AC Milan.

Manchester United now qualify for the quarter-finals with a 7-2 win on aggregate over Milan; thanks to four goals in all from Wayne Rooney – who clearly beat former England captain David Beckham in the first and second leg games.
