Manchester United 5-0 Portsmouth: Wayne Rooney Gets The Opener
157 views 8 February 2010
Premier League giants Manchester United snatched a memorable 5-0 win over minnows Portsmouth at Old Trafford, and in truth, Wayne Rooney was the man who started the nightmare for the visitors.
Berbatov and Nani both had occasions to put the Red Devils in front, but effectiveness seemed to be missing in their attempts.
After several minutes of battling, Manchester United players could finally take a breath, thanks to an opener scored by the English striker Wayne Rooney. Truthfully, it was a brilliant free header from a Gary Neville corner kick.
United were in front, and in the dying minutes of the first half, a sort of own goal by David James doubled the Mancunians’ lead.
In the second half, more goals from Michael Carrick, Dimitar Berbatov, and a mistake from Portsmouth’s Marc Wilson made the score line 5-0 in favor of Manchester United.
The game ended this way, and Wayne Rooney can therefore feel happy to have scored his 21st goal of the Premier League.

Hey guys, thank you all for your comments!
yeah, it’s true, two own-goals is a really big deal. But congratulations to Rooney and Carrick for their great goals!!
Two own goals???? Portsmouth, what’s going on in their heads and in their feet???? They got it all wrong. Nice joke of the weekend. Man United are real title contenders. Rooney is splendid and Nani is thrilling! I don’t support Man United since Cris has left but I don’t hate them either. Let the best team win the EPL and Rooney, keep amusing your fans.
I watched this game too. I was really excited. We always shout when Man U gets a goal. Though this game was funny to me. 5-0 !!! Hahaha
Great job men.
XDDDD
I actually watched this game (I haven’t been following Manchester that much, ever since Cris left
) and I actually felt so bad for Portsmouth! Although my pity for them couldn’t stop my laughter, 2 OG’s??? Really? Poor guys – oh well, it was entertaining for me to watch, that’s all I ask.
