Rooney’s superb form for England continues.

England raised their fans’ hopes of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup with a comfortable 4-0 win over Slovakia in a friendly match on Saturday at Wembley.
Rooney’s nice move in the first half enabled Steven Gerrard to drive a low cross into the danger zone, only for Emmanuel Heskey to place the ball into the back of the net with a good effort.
In the second half, substitute David Beckham made a decent cross, which was brilliantly headed in by the fierce number 10 striker Wayne Rooney.
Lampard then added a third to make sure that the game was sealed, but his goal just wasn’t enough. Rooney had a glorious chance to punish Slovakia’s sloppy defense, and with just the goalkeeper to beat, Wayne couldn’t miss. His looping shot somehow sent the ball across the line to make it 4-0.
So, this is how the game ended and both the team and the fans have all the reasons to be happy.
As Rooney spoke to journalists after the match, he declared that the win was truly deserved and that it really showed how prepared the team was for their next qualifying game against Ukraine.
However, having such a though fixture ahead of them, English supporters can only hope that celebrations will not be shattered by a disappointing result, just like in their previous match against Spain, back in February.
