Rooney to captain United
2 views 11 December 2007Wayne Rooney will captain Manchester Utd in their final group game of the Champions League tomorrow night. They are already assured of their first place position, and Roma their oppenents have already booked second place. It gives Ferguson a chance to play his younger team. Rooney, only 22 will be one of the most senior players tomorrow night and Ferguson will be happy to give his young star the captains arm band.
“He’s been pestering me for ages to get his chance (as captain),” joked Ferguson. “He’s developing all the time. He’s had some disruptions with injuries but he’s developed very fast. He’s coming on really well, just as we hoped he would when he joined us as a young lad.”
