Rooney to impress Sir Alex Ferguson in tonight’s game against Wigan

Two substitutions in two consecutive games, is what Wayne Rooney has experienced lately. The English striker was unable to complete his game in the Champions League last Tuesday at the Emirates.
Besides, in Sunday’s game against Manchester City, Rooney wasn’t giving the opportunity to really get a taste of the game, as he was brought in 30 minutes from time.

These are surely strange decisions from the Manchester United coach, Sir Alex Ferguson; but the fact that the Scottish manager hasn’t let his English striker play the full 90 minutes twice in two consecutive games doesn’t definitely mean that he is not impressed by his player’s performance. On the contrary, Fergie has revealed to the media that his biggest stars didn’t have to expect to play matches fully at this point, as big games in Europe and in the league where still awaiting them.

Tonight’s game against Wigan will certainly be an exciting match to watch. Moreover, it is the importance of the game that makes it even more interesting. A win for the Red Devils will mean that even a single point afterwards will be enough for the Mancunians to claim the league title.

So far, Manchester United is in good shape; and luckily for their fans, they still have two more titles to clinch this season. In the meantime, the EPL title is what is closer to them; therefore, it will be essential for Ferguson to manage his players in an appropriate manner so as to get them ready for the right moments.

Now, a question appears: “Will Fergie give Rooney a chance to enjoy the end of his season by giving him a place in the starting line-up for tonight’s weighty game against Wigan?”

No one can really tell, but undoubtedly, Wayne will be hoping that his coach considerates his desire to play, in other to prove himself to his fans once again.

For Wazza, the game against Wigan will be more a matter of convincing his manager, than a matter of getting the 3 points only.

In the end, fans must not expect too much neither Rooney himself, nor from the manager, for it wouldn’t be surprising if the Red Devils’ line-up was to give chance to second choice players.
