From striker to midfielder?

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has failed to solve the team’s goal scoring problems. Thanks to a late transfer deal, the striker can now be relieved, as Berbatov is now part of the Man United squad.

Best of all, Cristiano Ronaldo last time stated that he would be back on exactly September 27.

With Manucho also been offered a work permit, Manchester United will soon possess many options in front. And if the Angolan striker impresses in his first appearances, he could soon become a first team player.

Now, there are concerns over Rooney’s role in Manchester United. Will he continue to play as a striker or will he switch to be a complete midfielder?

After all, Owen Hargreaves is still out injured and Berbatov, Tevez, Manucho, and Ronaldo should perfectly fit together in front.

Rooney is no more alone

Nothing is over until it is over! Manchester United managed to finalize a deal with Tottenham Hotspurs in the final hours of the transfer window to secure the signature of the long awaited striker Dimitar Berbatov.

This comes as good news to Wayne Rooney who has been under intense pressure since the start of the season following the goal crisis at the club.

In an interview, Rooney stated that playing the supposed role of a number 9 was not his choice and that Ronaldo’s absence was a big blow to himself and the squad in general.

The English striker revealed it was no problem for him not to score a lot of goals as long as Manchester United enjoyed success.

After failing to hit at least two goals in 90 minutes since the 2 – 1 win over Portsmouth in Nigeria, the inclusion of a new striker was vital for Manchester United.

Now, Berbatov has come to lighten the heavy load of criticism carried by Wayne Rooney. The 22 year old forward could finally have the chance to play in his preferred position of assistant striker.
