Wayne Rooney rested for Wednesday’s Champions League clash in Rome

Rooney champions with Manchester United
Wayne Rooney played major parts of the game but Sir Alex decided to replace him with Nani after playing 102 minutes. The Mirror gave Rooney a 7 in rating, saying:
“Produced his customary superhuman work-rate and belligerence on the ball, which gives United such a cutting edge.”
Rooney could then witness the drama from the bench where Manchester United finally won the final beating Chelsesa 6-5 on penalties after a penalty miss by Anelka.
Congratulations Rooney to achieving the double with Manchester United!
Fergie: We won't rely on Rooney and Ronaldo
Many have pointed Ronaldo and Rooney as the key men in United’s lineup. But Sir Alex Ferguson has warned his team no to rely on just Ronaldo and Rooney in the tonights Champions league final against Chelsea.
“They are young and I suppose a lot of their big future is ahead of them,” he said.
“In terms of their ability, their nerve and ability to play there are few better.
“But we can’t look to depend on two young lads as our saviours, I will be relying on all 11 players to see us through.”
