Players certainly learn a lot from their clubs, and there is certainly no difference with the English 23-year old forward Rooney.

In an recent interview with The Daily Star, the Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney explained how his years with the Red Devils had help him grow up to become a mature man.

“I’ve certainly settled down over the last couple of years. I was still quite young when I signed for United but you realise different things when you get a bit older.

“I think I’ve changed a lot. When I was at Everton and perhaps in my first year at United, I probably went out a bit more than I should have done.

“I got myself involved in different situations, but these days I don’t really go out at all. I try not to put myself in those situations any more.

“These days I enjoy my time with my family in places where I know I’ve got the right people around me.

“Everywhere I go people recognise me. I suppose you get used to it, but you still need your privacy at certain times.”

Rooney watches his former club Everton eliminate Manchester United from the FA Cup

Manchester United’s match against Everton on Sunday was definitely a game that everybody was awaiting. Both sides knew how difficult the game was going to be, and with the Mancunians scoring only two goals in two league games against the Merseyside Blues, United’s manager Alex Ferguson was looking for a change in the result this time.

Well, he certainly surprised everyone when decided to make a starting line-up which excluded his best players. The fans had then no more reasons to imagine Ronaldo or Wayne Rooney entertain them. More…

Rooney could hit a century against his old club Everton

Rooney’s bright start in the Premier League commenced years ago when he scored his first professional career goal against the Gunners in an Everton jersey.

The 23-year-old striker has now developed himself with Manchester United from a simple number 8 youngster to an influential number 10 ace.

Rooney bagged his 98th and 99th Manchester United goals against West Bromwich Albion and Celtic respectively. The striker had two clear goals controversially disallowed in both games, meaning that Manchester United’s third goal in Tuesday’s Champions League match would have been Rooney’s 100th.

Coincidentally, Rooney has now been given the opportunity to hit a century against his old club Everton in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Rooney pays damages to former boss

Wayne Rooney has been forced to pay up to £400,000 due to false allegations about his former Everton boss, David Moyes, in his autobiography. It was during 2006 he leaked out details of private conversations to a Liverpool newspaper, saying “serious breach of trust towards a young player under his management”.

Moyes is donating his damages to the Everton Former Players’ Foundation.
