While the attention of all football lovers were drawn to the middle of South Africa to watch the World Cup performances, Madrid appears to remain concentrated in the matter of approaching their players for next season squad. Liverpool against Real Madrid and Manchester against Inter Milan were definitely the hottest draws in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool fans can now be relived after their side crashed their Spanish opponents by four goals to nil in the second leg, in a match where skipper and man of the match Steven Gerrard scored twice.
With the Merseyside Reds and the Blues qualifying into the next stage of the competition, there are now two more English teams left: Man Utd and Arsenal FC. Obviously, Ferguson’s side could be the third or last team to go through the quarterfinals, but that is only if they manage to beat Inter Milan at home tonight. More…
